Duties: Assisting the 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy’s Publicity and Promotions Coordinator distribute promotional material, staff information tables, do media outreach, make classroom announcement and send invitations and announcements to email and facebook networks, as well as other tasks as required.
Knowledge Required: working with volunteer organizations, public outreach
Other Skills: Knowledge of the 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy’s mandate; familiarity with past events, campaigns, services, etc. facilitated by the 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy.
What’s in it for you: The 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy’s Publicity and Promotions Coordinator will supervise the student. Supervision will be held on-site and will consist of weekly meetings at which the employee will provide an overview of work completed and to be completed, and will ask for any clarification or assistance as needed. The employee will also participate in regular meetings with other staff members and volunteers, which will give them an opportunity to engage in different problem-solving and decision-making scenarios on the job. During their contract, the Promotional Assistant will have the opportunity to experience working in a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment at a not-for-profit organization dedicated to social justice. Participation in Centre events, resource building and decision-making process will provide the employee with a valuable background for any future community-oriented work, or work with socially progressive organizations. The employee will work with a small but diverse staff, who can provide insight into non-profit work.
