Call for proposals: Mapping Concordia’s gender-neutral bathrooms

Trans' symbolDid you know? Concordia is making great strides in becoming more inclusive of LGBT students. For example, in the last year, changes were implemented to make it easy for Trans* students to have their preferred name used in all communications with the university so as to avoid being outed to fellow students and faculty.

The next step is to create an accessible map of Concordia’s gender-neutral bathrooms – an essential resource for all gender non-conforming students!

The Dean of Students and the 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy invite you to propose a mapping system. This call for proposals is open to all undergraduate and graduate students at Concordia.

We currently have a list of all of Concordia’s gender-neutral bathrooms (.dwg and .xls formats) and need someone to put this data into a map format that is:

• Printable by site/building/floor (if possible)
• Navigable by site/building/floor (if possible)
• Accessible through the web (embeddable)
• Modifiable
• Eventually, transferable to a mobile app

A stipend of $300 will be offered for the selected project.

Proposals should contain:
• a solid description of the tools and methods that will be used to create the map
• if possible, an example of a map that would show the end result

Deadline for submission is January 25th.

Project deadline is March 1st.

Send your proposal to psa[at]centre2110.org

Thank you to CCSL and CSU!

Loretta RossWe’d like to express our sincere thanks the Concordia Council on Student Life (CCSL) and the Concordia Student Union (CSU) for providing us with retroactive funding for the amazing talk by activist and author, Loretta Ross, that took place on September 27th.

The event was also supported by our fabulous allies at the Sustainability Action Fund and the Simone de Beauvoir Institute.

If you missed the talk (or want to relive it) you can watch it here. And if you want to listen to the kick-ass song that the Reproductive Justice League Choir composed for the occasion, you can listen to it here.
