2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy Discretionary Funding Policy

1.0 Mandate: The Centre shall offer discretionary funding each month to support projects and events that fall within the mandate of the organization and that are proposed by external individuals or groups.
2.0 Amount: This funding shall be up to $500 each month or $6000 per year; this amount shall be reviewed and adjusted if necessary once a year at the budget meeting.
2.01 The Centre is not obligated to allocate the entire $500 each month.
2.02 Any remaining money shall be carried forward to the following month.
3.0 Decision-Making Body: Discretionary funding allocations shall be decided by a Discretionary Subcommittee of the Collective.
3.01 The Subcommittee shall be open to all members of the collective; its meetings shall be announced over the collective listserv, and it must be composed of a minimum of two collective members at all times.
3.02 If a subcommittee member is actively involved in the organizing of the project or event, they shall be considered to be in a conflict of interest and shall excuse themselves from the subcommittee deliberations that month.
4.0 Application procedure: In order to apply for discretionary funding, applicants must submit an application by the fifteenth of each month.
4.01 Applications can apply for up to $500 and must include a description of the event, a projected budget, and a description of the organizing group.
4.02 For projects or events requiring more than $500 or requiring a more active support than just financial assistance, applications for co-sponsorship should be made to the Programming Coordinator.
4.03 The Discretionary Subcommittee shall judge discretionary funding applications based on a) how strongly the project aligns with the mandate of the Centre b) the ability of the project to secure other
funding, and c) the overall value of the project.
5.0 Disbursement
All funding shall be disbursed by cheque, issued on or before the last day of the month.
