Kim Pate, the Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies will discuss the realities faced by women who are incarcerated, particularity women in federal prisons. She will also discuss the right to justice without fear of prejudice or discrimination on the basis of such factors as sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion and freedom of conscience, social or economic condition. Dee, the host of Prison Radio on CKUT will facilitate a Q & A.
This event is taking place as part of the Blue Print Project: a radio and popular education series to raise awareness about gendered violence. The project is a cooperative effort between Radio CKUT and the 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy. Young women and girls from all communities, backgrounds and of all abilities are invited to take part in this collective, creative radio project. Twelve workshops on gender based violence will take place at the 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy, and twelve workshops on making radio will take place at CKUT. No experience needed. Registration is free.
