The peer support and advocacy program (PSA) offers the unique opportunity to participate
in a peer-to-peer, harm reductive support program. The program operates on the principles
of empowerment and self determination. We offer a variety of services, including one-on-one
support sessions, either in person, on the phone, or via email as well as accompaniments.
We also coordinate workshops for the general public, such as the upcoming know-your-rights
series and the on-going ‘peer support one-oh-what?’ series.
the program can always use volunteers!
Here are some awesome ways to get involved:
1. One on one support!Provide informal, non-hierarchical, non-directional, confidential,
one on one support. Service also provided via telephone and email.
2. Accompaniments! Provide informal support to people who would prefer not go to
(doctors, lawyers, court…) appointments alone.
3. Outreach! We need people to represent the peer support program in the university community
and Montreal at large. Table at events, make announcements in classrooms, distribute promotional
materials, write articles and do interviews for local media.
4. Creating promotional material! Design posters, pamphlets, website and facebook content,
make banners, etc.
5. Resource building! Do you think organization is hot? Write info-sheets, update the resource
binder, gather popular education materials, organize lending library (zines, movies, books.)
Develop and facilitate workshops.
Note: There are no current openings for one on one support providers. Check back in the fall!
